Commerzbank licenses ETF-based Elston global min-vol index for certificate creation

March 2, 2017--Elston Consulting has licensed the ETF-based Elston Strategic Beta Global Minimum Volatility Index to Commerzbank for the creation of an investable certificate.

The certificate is issued with an initial notional of £10m.

Boerse Stuttgart reports turnover of more than EUR 7 billion in February

March 2, 2017--Trading volume in debt instruments (bonds) and equities well up on previous year
According to its order book statistics, Boerse Stuttgart generated turnover in excess of EUR 7 billion in February 2017.

The trading volume was down on the high figure for the previous month, but up slightly in comparison with February 2016.

The equity trading volume was up 17 percent year on year, at more than EUR 1.5 billion. The turnover in German equities exceeded EUR 1 billion, whilst the trading volume of international equities was up slightly in comparison with January, at EUR 456 million.

Lyxor launches industry-first green bond ETF

March 2, 2017--Lyxor has launched the Lyxor Green Bond UCITS ETF (Euronext: CLIM), the world's first ETF to offer exposure to the investment grade green bond market.

Green bonds are sovereign, supranational or corporate fixed income instruments that dedicate the proceeds raised through issuance to enhancing environmental sustainability.

Deutsche Boerse prepared for future as independent company: CEO

March 1, 2017--Deutsche Boerse's (DB1Gn.DE) chief executive said it was regrettable that the London Stock Exchange (LSE.L) had decided not to sell its trading platform in Italy' all but ending a planned merger' but said the German group could continue on its own.

"We feel very well prepared as a company for the future," Carsten Kengeter said on Wednesday.

Turnover at Deutsche Boerse's cash markets at 109.0 Euro billion in February

March 1, 2017--Order book turnover on Xetra, Börse Frankfurt and Tradegate Exchange across all asset classes stood at €109.0 billion in February (February 2016: €130.7 billion). Of the €109.0 billion, €97.8 billion were attributable to Xetra (February 2016: €120.7 billion).

The average daily turnover on Xetra stood at €4.9 billion in February (February 2016: €5.7 billion). A turnover of €4.0 billion was attributable to Börse Frankfurt (February 2016: €4.0 billion). Order book turnover on Tradegate Exchange totalled approximately €7.2 billion in February (February 2016: €6.0 billion).

ESMA issues implementing rules for package orders under MiFID II

February 28, 2017--The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has published today its final report on draft regulatory technical standards (RTS) regarding the treatment of package orders under the amended Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) and Regulation (MiFIR).

Monday Morning Memo: European investors favor international securities in January

February 27, 2017--After the negative flow numbers at the end of 2016, January 2017 showed a positive picture for long-term mutual funds. European fund promoters enjoyed net inflows into bond funds (+€17.6 bn), followed by equity funds (+€9.8 bn), mixed-asset funds (+€5.7 bn), and alternative UCITS products (+€4.0 bn) as well as real estate funds (+€1.0 bn) and commodity funds (+€0.1 bn).

"Other" funds (-€0.5 bn) was the only asset type that faced net outflows in the long-term mutual funds segment.

European Semester Winter Package: review of Member States' progress towards economic and social priorities

February 23, 2017--The European Commission today publishes its annual analysis of the economic and social situation in the Member States, including an assessment of remaining imbalances.

It also publishes a report on the implementation of the Fiscal Compact, a report analysing the debt situation in Italy and a report, together with a proposal to the Council for a fine, on a case of misrepresentation of statistics in Austria.
