January 9, 2017--Israeli Global Equities, as measured by BIGI(R), were unchanged in December. Israeli Global Technology Equities, as measured by the TA-BIGITech(R) benchmark were up just 0.22%.
December was a disappointing month for Israeli equities compared to their international Developed Market peers. One potential cause for this relative weakness was the dismal performance of some of Israel's largest companies: Teva and Perrigo were down more than 3% in December while Mobileye was down nearly 10%.
Egypt's pound strengthens at banks as demand from importers eases
January 8, 2017--The Egyptian pound strengthened slightly at banks as demand for dollars by importers eased, bankers told Reuters on Sunday.
The dollar was being bought for around 18 pounds at most banks, down from around 19 last week. Banks were paying clients around 17.8 per dollar.
