Private equity returns still outperform public markets
May 15, 2017--Private equity buyout funds globally delivered returns that beat public equity markets by a sizable margin in 2016.
In the US, funds delivered a 6 per cent end-to-end pooled internal rate of return (IRR) for the 12 months ending June 2016, compared with 4 per cent for the S&P 500 using an apples-to-apples metric developed by investment advisory firm Cambridge Associates. The gap was even larger in Europe and Asia-Pacific. And private equity continues to outperform over longer time horizons as well.

Growth Accelerates in Europe and Central Asia as World Bank Calls for More Trade Benefitting More People
May 11, 2017--Economic growth in Europe and Central Asia (ECA) will accelerate slightly in 2017, following the stabilization of oil prices, benefitting the eastern half of the region, and a continued recovery in the western half of the region.
According to the latest ECA Economic Update, Trade in Transition, launched today in Tbilisi, Georgia, regional growth is forecast at 1.9 percent for 2017, up 0.3 percentage points from an earlier forecast in October, and will remain a stable 1.8 percent in 2018.

OECD-New technology still under-used by businesses
May 10, 2017-- Businesses need to step up the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, materials and processes if countries are to reap their full potential in terms of productivity gains, according to a new OECD report.
Development and implementation are taking place mostly in large firms, and even then new technologies are underemployed and could be contributing much more than is currently the case, it says.
