AFME and Linklaters publish guide to navigating sustainable finance regulation
November 22, 2021--A new report by the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) and Linklaters titled, "Sustainable Finance in Europe: Regulatory State of Play" provides a practical guide to the significant number of initiatives which make up the regulatory framework for sustainable finance in the EU, UK and Switzerland. It highlights how the banking sector is impacted and makes recommendations to further the goal of developing sustainable finance in Europe.

New thematic ETFs from Global X on Xetra: Companies worldwide from the fields of innovative technologies, e-commerce, mobility and climate change
November 18, 2021--Since Thursday, seven new exchange-traded funds of the issuer Global X are tradable via Xetra and Börse Frankfurt.
With the Global X Cleantech UCITS ETF, investors participate in up to 40 companies that are driving structural change in global energy use. Businesses include renewable energy and measures to combat air and environmental pollution.
The Global X E-Commerce UCITS ETF provides access to companies that offer their goods and services online, operate e-commerce platforms or produce e-commerce software and services.
Investors interested in the Global X Autonomous & Electric Vehicles UCITS ETF are exposed to companies that focus on the production of electric and hybrid vehicles, the supply of the necessary components, or the provision of technologies for autonomous and connected driving.

ECB-Euro area investment fund statistics: third quarter of 2021
November 18, 2021--In third quarter of 2021, outstanding amount of shares/units issued by investment funds other than money market funds rose to €15,547 billion, up €284 billion on previous quarter
Net issues in quarter amounted to €177 billion, with €1,047 billion in gross issues and €870 billion in gross redemptions
Outstanding amount of shares/units issued by money market funds stood at €1,340 billion, almost unchanged from previous quarter
In the third quarter of 2021, the outstanding amount of shares/units issued by investment funds other than money market funds stood at €15,547 billion, €284 billion higher than in the second quarter

ESMA publishes its Preliminary Report on the EU carbon market
November 18, 2021--The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU's securities markets regulator, has today published its Preliminary Report on the EU carbon market. The report responds to the request made by the European Commission (EC) to ESMA in its Communication on energy prices for a preliminary analysis of European emission allowances (EUAs) and derivatives on EUAs.
The Report presents an overview of the financial regulatory environment for the carbon market under MAR, MiFID II and EMIR and the tools available to securities supervisors to fulfil their responsibilities. The Report, based on commercial data, also provides an analysis of price evolution and volatility in EUAs and derivatives on EUAs. Weekly position reports in respect of derivatives on EUAs were used for the initial assessment of active counterparties.

New thematic ETF from Rize on Xetra: Access to digital payments economy
November 11, 2021--Since Thursday, a new exchange traded fund of the issuer Rize ETF is tradable via Xetra and Börse Frankfurt.
The Rize Digital Payments Economy UCITS ETF-USD Acc gives investors access to companies worldwide that earn a significant portion of their revenue from the digital payment ecosystem.
In addition to traditional card payment networks such as Visa or Master Card, the index also includes payment services and solutions providers such as PayPal, as well as payment processors and infrastructure providers that produce the necessary hardware and software, but also providers of payment services and pioneers in the field of crypto currencies such as Coinbase.
The weighting of an individual stock is based on liquidity criteria and the share generated by digital payments compared to total revenue.

New Invesco ETF on Xetra: S&P 500 ESG with currency hedging
November 11, 2021--A new exchange traded fund from issuer Invesco has been tradable via Xetra and Börse Frankfurt since Thursday.
The new share class, Invesco S&P 500 ESG UCITS ETF EUR Hdg (Acc), allows investors to gain exposure to companies from the S&P 500 ESG Index and to benefit from currency hedging against the euro.
Only companies that meet certain sustainability criteria are considered in the selection process. The goal is to achieve a risk-return profile similar to that of the S&P 500, while taking into account ESG characteristics and maintaining the sector composition of the parent index. The ETF currently tracks the performance of 312 companies.

Euro area securities issues statistics: September 2021
November 11, 2021--The annual growth rate of the outstanding amount of debt securities issued by euro area residents was 4.1% in September 2021, compared with 4.0% in August.
For the outstanding amount of listed shares issued by euro area residents, the annual growth rate was 2.6% in September 2021, compared with 2.5% in August.
Debt securities
New issuances of debt securities by euro area residents totalled EUR 788.7 billion in September 2021. Redemptions amounted to EUR 669.0 billion and hence net issues to EUR 119.7 billion. The annual growth rate of outstanding debt securities issued by euro area residents was 4.1% in September 2021, compared with 4.0% in August.
