WisdomTree brings popular currency-hedged ETFs to Europe
May 19, 2015--WisdomTree, the $61bn exchange traded funds provider, is to bring two of its best-selling US ETFs to Europe in response to growing appetite for currency-hedged ETFs.
WisdomTree's dollar-hedged Europe equity ETF will begin trading in London, Frankfurt and Milan on May 21.

Making 'tactical adjustements' is the key reason for using ETPs
May 18, 2015--New research(1) commissioned by Source, one of the largest providers of Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) in Europe, reveals that European professional investors say they use ETPs most often to make 'tactical adjustments' to their portfolios.
Nearly three out of four (73%) of those interviewed mentioned this as a reason for investing in ETPs, followed by 61% who said they use them to gain 'long term broad market exposure'. Other responses include: supporting a long/short strategy (59%), liquidity management (52%), sector rotation (40%) and transition management (26%).

Benchmarks: restoring confidence in the financial markets
May 18, 2015--Benchmarks are widely used to track market developments, however financial scandals involving benchmarks such as Libor and Eurobibor have shown that they are susceptible to manipulation.
On 18 May MEPs debate new rules to ensure the full transparency of all benchmarks used in the EU and vote on them the next day. Dutch Alde member Cora van Nieuwenhuizen, who wrote the report with recommendations, said: "It is a major step forward in ensuring the future robustness and accuracy of benchmarks."

Russian Economy Shrinks 1.9% in First Quarter
May 15, 2015--The Russian economy contracted by 1.9 percent in the first quarter year-on-year, the statistics service said on Friday, hit by sanctions and falling energy prices.
The reading was broadly in line with estimates given by Prime Minister Dmitri A. Medvedev and officials from the Economy Ministry over the last month, although some analysts said the figure was better than expected.

Euro Area Securities Issues Statistics: March 2015
May 13, 2015--The annual rate of change of the outstanding amount of debt securities issued by euro area residents
was -0.1% in March 2015, compared with -0.9% in February.
For the outstanding amount of listed shares issued by euro area residents, the annual growth rate was 1.5% in March 2015, compared with 1.4% in
February.
New issuance of debt securities by euro area residents totalled EUR 643 billion in March 2015.
Redemptions stood at EUR 605 billion and net issues amounted to EUR 82 billion.1 The annual rate of change of outstanding debt securities issued by euro area residents was -0.1% in March 2015, compared with -0.9% in February.

Country-specific recommendations 2015: Further efforts needed to support a robust recovery
May 13, 2015--Further policy is needed to return to self-sustaining growth. The European Commission today adopted country-specific economic policy recommendations for 2015 and 2016 asking for national actions to create jobs and stimulate growth.
These recommendations reflect the Commission's economic and social agenda. Since President Juncker's Commission took office in November 2014 and published its Annual Growth Survey 2015, this agenda has focused on three mutually reinforcing pillars:
boosting investment, implementing structural reforms and pursuing
fiscal responsibility.
The successful implementation of the 2015 country-specific recommendations will be key to making Europe's return to jobs and growth sustainable and less dependent on the external, cyclical factors that currently support the recovery.
