November 2, 2017--Assets increased by $14.1 Bn (or 1.9%) in October, with net inflows of $8.1 Bn
At the end of October 2017 there were 2,440 products domiciled in Europe across 2,973 share classes, with assets of $755.0 Bn from 45 product issuers and 69 index providers
iShares saw the largest net inflows for the month with $3.1 Bn, followed by DBX with $1.7 Bn and Lyxor with $671 Mn, while Boost saw the largest net outflows of $53 Mn
Products tracking MSCI indices saw the largest net inflows for the month gathering $4.1 Bn, followed by products tracking Markit indices with $1.1 Bn, while Barclays based products experienced the largest net outflows of $547 Mn

Bank of England raises UK interest rates for first time since 2007
November 2, 2017--Threadneedle Street increases cost of borrowing from 0.25% to 0.5%, reversing emergency action after Brexit vote
The Bank of England's 0.25% rate rise sent the pound tumbling on foreign exchanges as gloomy forecasts for growth appeared to rule out the prospect of steep increases in the cost of credit before 2020.

Turnover at Deutsche Borse's cash markets at 115.9 billion euros in October
November 2, 2017--Increase of 17 per cent year-on-year
Order book turnover on Deutsche Börse cash markets totalled €115.9 billion in October (October 2016: €98.7 billion).
Of the €115.9 billion, €102.9 billion were attributable to Xetra (October 2016: €90.4 billion) and €4.1 billion to Börse Frankfurt (October 2016: €3.1 billion).
Order book turnover on Tradegate Exchange totalled €8.9 billion (October 2016: €5.2 billion).

New Fidelity International smart beta ETFs launched on Xetra
November 1, 2017--ETFs provide access to high-dividend quality companies
Two new exchange traded funds (ETFs) issued by Fidelity International have been tradable on Xetra and Börse Frankfurt since Wednesday.
The new smart beta ETFs enable investors to participate in the performance of stock corporations from Europe and emerging markets that are characterised by high dividend yields and quality criteria. The quality of a company is measured using various fundamental data, such as stable profits and cash flows.

Britain's Taxman Wants to Make Money From MiFID

Guidance on VAT from British tax authority is expected soon
Banks and money managers are waiting to hear if one of life's certainties--taxes --will apply to investment research payments under MiFID II.
As the clock ticks down to the Jan. 3 start of the European Union's revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, the British taxman has been meeting with industry groups to discuss tax issues related to the law, a spokesperson said.
