August 21, 2017--The promoters of ETFs enjoyed net inflows for July. Backed by the net inflows, the assets under management in the European ETF industry (€582.2 bn) increased for July, up from €577.6 bn at the end of June.
The increase of €4.6 bn for July was driven by net new sales (+€8.1 bn), while market performance contributed a negative €3.5 bn to the assets under management in the ETF segment. With regard to the overall number of products, it was not surprising that equity funds (€407.0 bn) held the majority of the assets, followed by bond funds (€145.6 bn), commodity products (€17.6 bn), "other" funds (€7.0 bn), money market funds (€4.1 bn), mixed-asset funds (€0.6 bn), and alternative UCITS products (€0.3 bn).
Unscheduled adjustment in MDAX
August 21, 2017--On Monday, Deutsche Börse announced an unscheduled change to the MDAX Index. Due to the acquisition of STADA Arzneimittel AG by Nidda Healthcare Holding AG, the free float of STADA Arzneimittel AG changed by more than 10 percentage points.
According to the Guide to the Equity Indices of Deutsche Börse AG, section 5.1.5 Extraordinary Free Float Adjustments, the company's free float will be adjusted in the index from the current 99.86 percent to 36.10 percent. These changes will become effective on 24 August 2017.
UK outlines approach to cross-border legal disputes post-Brexit
August 21, 2017-- Britain urged the EU on Tuesday to stick to the existing system for resolving cross-border civil disputes after Brexit, expanding on a list of proposals for future ties to try to nudge talks forward with the bloc.

August 18, 2017--ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm on trends in the global ETF/ETP ecosystem, reported today that ETFs and ETPs listed in Europe gathered net inflows of US$10.16 Bn in July marking the 33rd month of consecutive inflows.
Year to date, net inflows stand at a record US$74.02 Bn which is more than double the net inflows of US$31.74 Bn at this point last year and more than the record US$55.69 Bn gathered in all of 2016.
YTD through end of July 2017, ETF/ETP assets have increased by 22.2% from US$573 Bn to reach a new record US$700 Bn.
ECB-Euro area investment fund statistics: second quarter of 2017
August 18, 2017--In the second quarter of 2017 the outstanding amount of shares/units issued by investment
funds other than money market funds was €10,639 billion, which is €171 billion higher than in the first quarter of 2017.
Investment funds other than money market funds increased their holdings of debt securities issued by the rest of the world and decreased equity issued by the rest of the world. At the same
time the holdings of both equity and debt securities issued by euro area residents increased.
Mixed funds registered an inflow of €67 billion in the second quarter of 2017, while bond funds experienced an inflow of €102 billion.

Under the upcoming MiFID II regulatory shift, these venues will be obligated to publish their research spending costs-UBS has become the latest lender to release its figure, charging as low as $40,000 a year for equity research.
