Russian benchmark officially renamed the MOEX Russia Index
November 27, 2017--On 27 November 2017 the new name of the Russian stock market benchmark-MOEX Russia Index-officially came into effect. The index was formerly known as the MICEX Index.
The new name will support increased brand recognition for MOEX and a more cohesive awareness of Moscow Exchange and the Russian financial market in the eyes of Russian and international professional market participants as well as retail investors.

November 27, 2017--European Fund-Flow Trends, October 2017
October was the tenth consecutive month showing a positive picture for long-term mutual funds. European fund promoters enjoyed net inflows into equity funds (+€17.8 bn), followed by bond funds (+€15.3 bn), mixed-asset funds (+€9.5 bn), and alternative UCITS funds (+€2.7 bn) as well as real estate funds (+€0.2 bn).
Meanwhile, commodity funds (-€0.4 bn) and “other” funds (-€2.2 bn) faced net outflows.
These fund flows added up to overall net inflows of €42.9 bn into long-term investment funds for October. ETFs contributed €6.6 bn to these inflows.
Money Market Products
Money market products (+€19.8 bn) were the asset type with the highest net inflows overall for October. Opposite to their actively managed peers ETFs investing in money market instruments posted net outflows of €0.06 bn.

Five new PowerShares smart beta ETFs launched on Xetra
November 27, 2017--ETFs offer access to factor strategies applied to European stock corporations
Five new exchange traded funds (ETFs) issued by Invesco PowerShares have been tradable on Xetra and Börse Frankfurt since Monday, 27 November 2017.
The new smart beta ETFs enable investors to participate in the performance of European stock corporations which are selected based on one of the following factors: quality, value, low beta, price momentum or earnings momentum. The reference indices each comprise 50 exchange-listed European ordinary shares from different sectors; they are weighted on the basis of their liquidity using a modified equal-weighting scheme.

New iShares equity index ETF launched on Xetra
November 23, 2017--ETF offers access to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies from the US
A new exchange traded fund (ETF) issued by iShares has been tradable on Xetra and Börse Frankfurt since Thursday.
The iShares NASDAQ US Biotechnology UCITS ETF enables investors to participate in the performance of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies from the US. The index components must be listed on NASDAQ and meet set admission criteria on market capitalisation and liquidity. The maximum weighting of an index component is eight percent. In addition, a maximum of five index components are permitted to reach this limit.

BlackRock launches global aggregate bond ETF TER of 0.10%
November 23, 2017--BlackRock has expanded its fixed income range with the launch of the iShares Global Aggregate Bond UCITS ETF.
Physically-backed, the ETF will enable investors to gain exposure to investment grade bonds across a variety of currencies, regions and sectors charging a total expense ratio (TER) of 0.10%.

UBS Asset Management announces launch of new short-term emerging market bonds ETF
November 23, 2017--UBS Asset Management has launched the UBS ETF (LU) JP Morgan USD EM Diversified Bond 1-5 UCITS ETF (ISIN: LU1645385839). The new exchange-traded fund tracks the JP Morgan USD Emerging Markets Diversified 3% capped 1-5 Year Bond Index.
The ETF gives investors access to emerging market Sovereign bonds, quasi-Sovereigns and corporate bonds with remaining maturity of between one and five years in a simple and cost-efficient manner. It is aimed at delivering a yield pick-up relative to developed market fixed income exposures. As well as exposure to a large range of bonds, the ETF allows for broad geographical diversification across more than 60 countries.

Mr Cœuré reviewed the latest financial market developments.
Since the Governing Council's monetary policy meeting on 6-7 September 2017 a positive underlying tone had persisted in financial markets. Two main factors seemed to have driven cross-asset price correlations: first, the return of the "reflation trade" that had pushed long-term interest rates, equities and the US dollar broadly higher; and, second, the euro area had been shielded to some extent from the upward pressure on yields, mainly owing to expectations of continued ECB monetary policy accommodation.

Announced today, Tobam's alternative investment fund perhaps represents the latest bid to attract institutional investors to cryptocurrencies (though, as in the case with similar financial instruments, investors wouldn't be holding bitcoin directly).

Deutsche Bank strategist tells investors to avoid bitcoin
November 22, 2017--Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE) has joined the ranks of those warning about the virtual currency bitcoin as an investment.
"I would simply not recommend this to the everyday investor," Ulrich Stephan, chief strategist at Germany's largest lender, said on Wednesday.
