Corbat's Quest for Boring Clashes With Citigroup Trading Push
December 31, 2015--Michael Corbat settled into an armchair at Citigroup Inc. (C)'s Park Avenue headquarters in January and shared his strategy to make the bank boring.
The past 11 months have seen him expand in businesses that are far from it.
Corbat, chief executive officer of the New York-based bank, extended his reach into commodities trading as other firms retrenched, kept a proprietary trading desk that takes a looser approach to new rules than some competitors and expanded the company's derivatives business to make it the nation's second-largest.

HSBC Plans First ABS Offering in China by Foreign Bank
December 30, 2014--HSBC Holdings Plc (HSBA) plans to sell the first asset-backed securities in China by a foreign bank as the nation's authorities accelerate development of the market.
The biggest bank in Europe will offer 1.35 billion yuan ($217.8 million) of the notes on Jan. 15, according to a statement on Chinabond website yesterday. The lead underwriters are Citic Securities Co. and Bank of Communications Co.

Second ETF to list 10.1m papers
December 25, 2014--10.1 million fund certificates of Viet Nam's second exchange-traded fund SSIAM-HNX30 will be listed on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange from next Monday, coded E1SSHN30.
The reference price on the first trading day will be the net asset value per certificate, dated Friday. SSI Asset Management operates the fund.
