Saudi economy shrinks for first time in three years

The Saudi economy has posted its first quarterly contraction since 2023, according to a government estimate issued on Thursday shortly after the International Monetary Fund praised the country’s economic "agility and resilience" in the face of hostilities.

Real GDP shrank 4.8 percent year on year in April, May and June, the General Authority for Statistics (Gastat) said, driven by a 25 percent fall in oil activity.
